Howard Jones
Howard Jones
It was in 1983 that Howard Jones first burst upon the contemporary music scene with his very English songwriting, pioneering synthesizers and thought provoking lyrics. He set out his manifesto in his very first single ' New Song'. The lyrics called on the listener to challenge their preconceived ideas, to see both sides and 'throw off your mental chains'. New Song was recently used in a pivotal scene in 'Breaking Bad' where Aaron Paul's character Jessie Pinkman questions if he wants to 'play by the rules'. New Song peaked at number 3 in the UK singles charts.

Along with 'New Song', The first two albums, 'Humans Lib' and 'Dream into Action', brought Howard a host of hits including 'Things Can Only Get Better', 'What is Love?', 'Pearl In The Shell', 'Like to Get To know You Well', 'Hide And Seek' (performed at Live Aid), 'Look Mama' and 'No One Is To Blame', which reached No.1 in the US. Howard has sold over 8 million albums across the globe and is one of a select group of British artists who have comprehensively 'broken America'.

Howard's Synthesiser driven debut influenced a new generation of electronic and dance musicians. Widely regarded as a pioneer of synths such as the Roland Juno 60, Jupiter 8 and Moog Prodigy he has worked with contemporary electronic artists such as Ferry Corsten, Eric Prydz and most recently Cedric Gervais. Howard enjoyed 14 weeks in the billboard dance chart top 40 in 2013 with his collaboration with Cedric on a new version of 'Things Can Only Get Better'. Howard continues to operate at the forefront of music technology in both his live shows and productions.
The English Beat
The English Beat
The English Beat is a band with an energetic mix of musical styles and a sound like no other. The band's unique sound has allowed it to endure for nearly three decades and appeal to fans, young and old, all over the world.

When The English Beat (known simply as The Beat in their native England) rushed on to the music scene in 1979, it was a time of massive social and political unrest and economic and musical upheaval. This set the stage for a period of unbridled musical creativity, and thanks in large part to the Punk movement and it's DIY approach to making music, artists like The Beat were able to speak out and speak their mind on the news of the day, as in "Stand Down Margaret", things that mattered to them and the youth culture, as in "Get A Job", and universal matters of the heart and soul, as in their classic hits "I Confess" and "Save It For Later".

The original band consisted of singer-songwriter Dave Wakeling on vocals and guitar, Andy Cox on guitar, David Steele on bass, and Everett Morton on drums – later additions Ranking Roger (toasting) and foundational First Wave Ska legend Saxa (saxophone) completed the outfit. The band crossed over fluidly between soul, reggae, pop and punk, and from these disparate pieces they created an infectious dance rhythm.

The Beat first came to prominence as founding members of the British Two Tone Ska movement, with their classic first album "Just Can't Stop It" fitting squarely in that genre. Along with their contemporaries The Specials, The Selecter, and Madness, the band became an overnight sensation and one of the most popular and influential bands of that movement.

However, band leader Dave Wakeling never felt constrained by the movement. Dave has always viewed ska as a springboard, not a straight jacket. Indeed, the band's sound continued to evolve over their first three studio albums, through the General Public era (a band formed by Dave with Ranking Roger, the toaster from The Beat), and has continued it's evolution with the forthcoming English Beat album "Here We Go Love", a PledgeMusic crowd-funded album set for release in 2016, the band's first new album since 1982's "Special Beat Service".

Consummate showman that he is, Dave Wakeling has continued to keep The Beat alive and strong. Dave continues to tour the world as The English Beat with an amazing all-star ska backing band playing all the hits of The Beat, General Public, and songs from his new album "Here We Go Love".

You just can't stop The English Beat!

Men Without Hats
Men Without Hats
The new wave synth pop collective Men Without Hats were formed in 1980 by brothers Ivan and Stefan Doroschuk. Ivan was the leader of the group, writing the majority of the songs and providing the lead vocals; Stefan was the guitarist; and other members changed frequently throughout the course of the group's career. They independently released their debut EP, Folk of the '80s, in 1980; it was reissued the following year by Stiff in Britain. During 1982, the band consisted of Ivan, Stefan, another brother Colin Doroschuk (keyboards), along with drummer Allan McCarthy; this is the lineup that recorded Men Without Hats' 1982 debut album, Rhythm of Youth. Taken from their debut, the single "The Safety Dance" became a major hit, peaking on the American charts at number three in 1983. Driven by an insistent three-chord synthesizer riff, the song was one of the biggest synth pop hits of the new wave era.
September 2011 saw MWH back in action for the first time in a very long time
touring across the US as special guests of The Human League.

Now Ivan brings the NEW Men Without Hats back to life in 2012 with a new album out this summer, LOVE IN THE AGE OF WAR, with the lead single Head Above Water out this spring at the same time as their old classic Pop Goes The World is being used in a major national ad campaign for Tide.
